SCHOLARSHIP LIST SERVICE – FUNDS AWARDED HIGHLIGHTS

Through the Scholarship List Service (SLS), institutions from around the country earmark funds for YoungArts participants. Funding is distributed through scholarships, apprenticeships, and internships.

A sampling of recent awards made to YoungArts participants by institutions that participate in the SLS follows:

Maryland Institute College of Art
In 2006 the Maryland Institute College of Art enrolled Eloise Santa Maria (2006 Presidenial Scholar in Visual Arts). MICA reports that she is an outstanding student who is already making her mark at the school. Several other YoungArts winners in all categories from Level I to Merit Awardees also enrolled. These students received MICA scholarships designated as YoungArts awards. In total, students attending MICA in 2006 have been awarded $221,500 in Arts Recognition and Talent Search Scholarships.

Chicago College of Performing Arts
Two 2006 YoungArts winners in Voice enrolled as freshmen at the Chicago College of Performing Arts: Tyler Hodges and Carlton Ford.

Westminster Choir College of Rider University
A YoungArts finalist for Voice was awarded a merit award of $14,000 per year, renewable for four years as long as grades are maintained (the highest merit award that Westminster awards to undergraduates, based on audition and academics, is $15,000).

School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
Five 2004 YoungArts Finalists and one 2002 YoungArts Finalist have attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Of those six, four have been SMFA Merit Scholarship recipients.
